The Ultimate
Discovery Vitality Playbook

Vitality rewards stack. This guide shows you what to activate, what to complete, what to pay with, and how to combine the programmes to get more back.

Health + Money + Drive = where the biggest rewards live.

Whether you have Vitality on its own, or with Discovery Bank, car insurance or medical aid, there is a section here for you. Free to read. We are not Discovery, and they did not pay us to write this.

What do you want to save on?

Tap one and we will take you straight there.

Changing 1 September 2026

Three HealthyFood and HealthyCare rules are changing

Note the wording carefully. It is the order Discovery receives the transactions from the retailer, not necessarily the order in which you made them.

01

New to Vitality? Start here.

Your 5-step setup

1

Activate the benefits you actually use

HealthyFood, HealthyCare, gym, Active Rewards and any travel or fitness benefits you will realistically use. Nothing pays out until it is switched on in the Discovery app.

2

Complete your Vitality Age and Vitality Health Check

These two are the most important health actions in the programme. They can take your HealthyFood and HealthyCare Vitality Health rewards from 10% to up to 25%. The Vitality Age assessment is free and online. The Health Check is a short screening you book through the Discovery app, at a Vitality-accredited wellness clinic or as a home visit. Complete only one and you stay at 10%.

3

Link the correct loyalty accounts

Checkers Xtra Savings and Woolworths MyDifference, both linked to Vitality using your SA ID or passport number. If the link is wrong, Discovery never receives the transaction and you earn nothing.

4

If you use Discovery Bank, work on Vitality Money

Your Discovery Bank product, your Vitality Money status and your qualifying monthly card spend together decide how much extra reward you can unlock on selected benefits.

5

Stack before you spend

Check whether Health, Money and Drive or Miles can work together before you buy groceries, fuel, flights or anything big.

Most people do not know this

You do not need medical aid to get Vitality

Vitality used to require a Discovery medical aid or life policy. It does not any more. A Discovery Bank account on its own is enough to get Vitality Active.

The entry-level pay-as-you-transact account starts at R35 a month, which is R15 in account fees plus a R20 Vitality Money premium. Vitality Active is R159 per adult. So the cheapest way in is about R194 a month, and it switches on two of the three programmes at once.

Vitality Active is a narrower product than the fuller Vitality Health benefit, with lower spend limits. It is not a discounted version of the same thing. Work out whether the benefits you will actually use cover the R194.

First, work out which one you have

Which Vitality do you have?

Several rules in this guide differ by product. Open the Discovery app, go to Vitality, and check which of these you are on.

  • ActiveVitality Active. The entry-level plan, available on its own with a Discovery Bank account. Lower HealthyFood and HealthyCare spend limits, and a narrower benefit set.
  • HealthVitality Premium or another eligible Vitality Health membership. The fuller benefit, usually attached to medical aid or a life policy. Higher spend limits.
  • Not sureCheck before you rely on any limit in this guide. Where a number differs by product we have said so, but your app is the only place your actual limits are shown.
The short version

If you only do three things

  1. Do both health assessments. Vitality Age and Vitality Health Check. These can take your qualifying HealthyFood and HealthyCare Vitality Health rewards from 10% to up to 25%.
  2. Improve your Vitality Money status. If you use Discovery Bank, complete the high-impact Vitality Money actions available to you rather than assuming your income alone decides your status.
  3. Link everything correctly. Your Checkers Xtra Savings and Woolworths MyDifference cards, your Clicks ClubCard or Dis-Chem Better Rewards card, your fitness tracker or smartwatch for exercise and sleep, your Discovery Bank payment methods and your Vitality Drive details. The easiest reward to lose is the one you qualified for but failed to trigger.
02

Bargain Bestie rule

Never spend R100 to earn R20 back

Vitality works best when it improves spending you were going to do anyway. Do not buy extra groceries, fuel, gear or travel purely to hit an advertised reward unless the underlying purchase still makes sense on its own.

A discount on something you did not need is not a saving. It is a purchase.

03

Before you pay

The 20 seconds that decide whether you get paid

This is the single most common way people lose money in this programme. They qualify for the reward and then fail to trigger it.

🥑 HealthyFood

Scan the Checkers Xtra Savings or Woolworths MyDifference account that is correctly linked to Vitality.

Chasing the Vitality Money boost? Pay with the qualifying Discovery Bank card the benefit rules require.

💊 HealthyCare

Make sure your HealthyCare setup and partner identification are in place at Clicks or Dis-Chem.

Use the qualifying Discovery Bank payment method where the Vitality Money boost requires it.

⛽ Fuel

Follow the Vitality Drive identification and payment process at the pump.

Use the qualifying Discovery Bank card for the Vitality Money Miles layer.

🛍 Discovery Miles

Before a big Miles purchase, check how close the 15th is.

Miles Đ-Day can lift the available discount to up to 30%. If it can wait a week, wait.

A great reward you fail to trigger = 0%.

04

Groceries: HealthyFood

The biggest recurring reward in the programme

Vitality HealthOptional Bank boost

What you can get

Up to 75% back in Discovery Miles

Up to 25% from Vitality Health, plus up to 50% more from Vitality Money if you have a qualifying Discovery Bank product. Neither layer gets you to 75% on its own.

Unlock it
  1. Activate HealthyFood in the Discovery app. That alone puts you at 10%.
  2. Complete your Vitality Age assessment online and your Vitality Health Check at a Vitality-accredited wellness clinic, or book a home visit through the Discovery app. Both must be valid within the last 12 months.
  3. Choose your primary in-store partner and your primary online partner. They do not have to be the same retailer.
  4. Link and scan the right loyalty account every single time.

Complete only one of the two assessments and you stay at 10% until both are done and valid.

Stack it

Pay with a qualifying Discovery Bank card and the Vitality Money layer adds up to 50% more. How much you actually get depends on your card colour, your Vitality Money status and your qualifying monthly card spend. Not every Discovery Bank client reaches 75%.

What "qualifying spend" does not include

This is the quiet one that costs people a whole reward tier. These do not count towards your monthly qualifying card spend:

Debit orders. EFTs. Payments made through online banking. Cash withdrawals. Budget facility transfers. Gambling transactions. Contact Payments.

If you pay your bills by debit order and swipe for very little else, your qualifying spend can be far lower than your actual spending, and your reward percentage drops with it. Card purchases are what count. Prepaid products bought in the Discovery Bank app, Health Pay and Vitality Pay transactions and Vitality Travel bookings do count.

A secondary cardholder's qualifying spend counts towards the primary accountholder's total.

Separate monthly spend caps apply to each layer.

Vitality Premium or eligible Vitality HealthVitality Health rewardsVitality Money rewards
SingleR2,500 / monthR2,500 / month
FamilyR5,000 / monthR5,000 / month

Vitality Active Vitality Active has its own, lower HealthyFood spend limits, and it does not use the same secondary-partner structure as the fuller Vitality Health benefit. The limits above do not apply to you. Check your HealthyFood benefit guide or the Discovery app for your actual monthly limit before planning a shop around it.

Don't miss this
  • From 1 September 2026, you need R200 of qualifying spend a month on each partner channel you want rewarded. In-store and online are calculated separately.
  • Woolworths is MyDifference only. WRewards and MySchool cards stopped working for this on 1 July 2026. In store, scan the MyDifference digital card. Online, on the app or on Dash, make sure you are logged into the correctly linked Woolworths profile.
  • You can change each primary partner once every rolling 12 months. Pick where you actually shop the most.
  • Only qualifying items count. Look for the Vitality indicator on the shelf label, online and on your till slip. Each transaction is analysed and non-qualifying items are simply disregarded.
  • Unhealthy items cost you points, not money back. Discovery deducts 20 Vitality points per unhealthy item, and your points can never drop below zero for the month. Your money back is calculated on the qualifying items in the basket, so a trolley of treats next to your broccoli does not reduce the rand you get back. It does reduce the Vitality points you earn, which feed your status.
  • Family members earn at their own rate now. Rewards are allocated in the order Discovery receives transactions, and the monthly limits still apply, so a big early shop by one member can use up the household allowance.
Pick your primary partner carefully

Your primary partner is where the higher rate applies. Your secondary partner earns up to 10%. You get one primary for in-store and one for online, and they can be different retailers. Choose the channel where your money actually goes.

05

Health and baby: HealthyCare

Clicks and Dis-Chem

Vitality HealthOptional Bank boost

What you can get

Up to 50% back

Up to 25% from Vitality Health once both assessments are done, plus up to another 25% from Vitality Money if you have a qualifying Discovery Bank product and pay with the qualifying card.

How it is paid. Vitality Health only members currently receive HealthyCare rewards as store loyalty points on their Clicks ClubCard or Dis-Chem Better Rewards card. Qualifying Discovery Bank and Vitality Money members receive theirs in Discovery Miles.

Discovery has signalled a move toward Discovery Miles for more HealthyCare members. Until that is formally implemented, follow whatever your Discovery app shows.

Unlock it
  1. You need a Clicks ClubCard or a Dis-Chem Better Rewards card, registered under your SA ID or passport number. Without one you cannot activate the benefit at that partner. Clicks can be set up during activation or collected in store. For Dis-Chem, WhatsApp "Hi" to 0860 347 243, use the Dis-Chem app, or dial *120*1085#.
  2. In the Discovery app go to Vitality, then Rewards, and activate HealthyCare. That puts you at 10% at both partners.
  3. Choose your primary partner. Up to 25% there, up to 10% at the other one.
  4. Complete the Vitality Age assessment and Vitality Health Check. The same two that drive HealthyFood.
  5. Hand your card to the cashier before they ring up your items. Online, enter your loyalty card number at checkout and make sure it is linked to your store profile under your ID.

Qualifying items show as "VIT" or "V" on your till slip. You do not earn Vitality points for HealthyCare purchases, unlike HealthyFood.

Stack it

The same two assessments unlock both HealthyFood and HealthyCare. Doing them once lifts both benefits, which is why they are the highest-value 90 minutes in the whole programme.

Then pay with a qualifying Discovery Bank credit card and the Vitality Money layer adds up to another 25%.

Don't miss this
  • From September 2026 a R200 monthly qualifying-spend rule applies to HealthyCare under the applicable benefit setup, at each HealthyCare partner. Exactly how it applies differs depending on whether you qualify through Discovery Health Medical Scheme, through Discovery Bank and Vitality Money, or both. Check the HealthyCare section in your Discovery app for your own setup.
  • HealthyFood and HealthyCare thresholds are separate. The R200 does not combine across the two benefits.
  • Schedule 1 and 2 medications left the HealthyCare catalogue in January 2026. Schedule 0 stays.
06

Fuel

Two separate rewards, two separate programmes

Bank+ Drive stack

What you can get

Up to 70% back, combined

Up to 20% back in Discovery Miles from Vitality Money on qualifying fuel spend at bp and selected Shell stations, plus up to 50% back from Vitality Drive.

Read that as two rewards, not one. Each layer has its own eligibility rules, its own monthly cap and its own payment requirements. The Vitality Drive portion moves month to month with your Drive status and your actual driving. Having Discovery Bank does not mean you receive 70%.

Unlock it

Vitality Drive works backwards compared to the other programmes. You are given points every morning and you lose them by driving badly.

MechanicDetail
Daily allocation60 points a day
With a standalone DQ-Track only50 points a day
Monthly maximum3,000 points
Diamond status2,500+ points a month
Annual MultiPoint CheckUp to 300 points

Points come off for speeding, harsh acceleration, harsh braking, hard cornering and cellphone use. The MultiPoint Check at Tiger Wheel & Tyre or a Discovery Drive Centre is the only chunk that has nothing to do with how you drive.

Stack it

Route your Vitality Drive fuel cash back into an Insure Funder Account and Discovery matches it. That doubling applies to the Vitality Drive fuel cash back component only, not to your whole combined fuel reward. You can draw up to 50% of the balance in cash after the first three years.

Also here: up to 20% off servicing and maintenance, and up to 25% off Uber rides.

Don't miss this

Last month's driving sets this month's ceiling. The Vitality Drive cash back is your status percentage applied to the lower of last month's Drive points or this month's fuel spend.

So if you drove badly in July you cannot fix August by filling up more. And if you drove brilliantly but barely used the car, the fuel spend caps you instead. There is a monthly rand cap on the cash back, and it can be taken as Discovery Miles instead.

07

Travel

The most forgotten benefit in the programme

Vitality HealthBank boosts it hardest

What you can get

Up to 75% off qualifying local and international flights

Actual discounts depend on your Vitality Health status, your qualifying Discovery Bank and Vitality Money setup, your remaining annual travel allowance and the applicable fare and spend limits.

Plus up to 25% off holiday accommodation and up to 25% off car hire.

Unlock it

The flight discount builds in three steps:

Where you areFlight discount

The final figure depends on your qualifying account, card colour, Vitality Money status and monthly qualifying card spend.

Stack it

The discount does not apply to the whole ticket. It applies to the qualifying fare component, up to a spend limit, and each layer has its own rules.

Flight typeDiscount applies toSpend limit
LocalThe base fare, including VAT and YQ or YR tax where they applyThe lower of that fare or R7,500 per member per flight
International, economy and premium economyThe base fare, including VAT and YQ or YR tax where they applyThe lower of that fare or R25,000 per member per booking

Airport taxes and ancillary charges are not discounted. Business class is excluded unless you hold a Discovery Bank Purple Suite or Purple Wealth account.

You can pay with Discovery Miles, your Discovery Bank card, or both. Discovery Bank Suite holders also get lounge access and Priority Fast Track.

Don't miss this
  • You must book through Vitality Travel. Book the same flight anywhere else and you get nothing.
  • Your boosted discount is limited per calendar year. Six one-way or three return local flights, and two return international or regional bookings, subject to your qualifying benefit rules. After that you drop to a flat 10%, unlimited, for the rest of the year. Check your remaining allowance on Vitality Travel before planning a year of trips around it.
  • A Vitality booking fee applies to local flights from 1 January 2026. R70 per traveller when you book 21 or more days ahead, R165 closer to departure. The fee sits outside the discounted fare.
  • People book on comparison sites out of habit and only find out afterwards. Check Vitality Travel first, every time, even if you end up booking elsewhere.
08

Gym and fitness

The 36-visit rule

Vitality HealthNo Bank account required

What you can get

Up to 75% off a local club membership

At Virgin Active or Planet Fitness. This is a Vitality Health benefit. You do not need Discovery Bank for the standard gym discount.

Unlock it
  • Activate the gym benefit and join through Vitality.
  • A once-off activation fee applies when you join. The standard fee is generally one month at the applicable full retail membership rate. Discovery runs reduced activation-fee promotions from time to time, so check the app before joining.
  • Check in at least 36 times in any rolling 12 months to maintain the maximum ongoing discount. That is three visits a month.
Stack it

Vitality Fitness gives you free workouts a month across a network of 500-plus facilities, and the number rises with your Vitality Health status. Members without a gym contract can also book classes at selected clubs.

Gym visits and tracked workouts also earn Vitality points, which feed your Vitality Health status, which feeds free workouts. That is the one genuinely self-reinforcing loop in the programme.

Don't miss this

36 visits is a rolling window, not a calendar year. Six visits in January and nothing after August still fails it. Check your count in month ten, not month twelve.

Miss the threshold and the discount reduces. Hit it again and it recovers. If you see a separate limited-time Discovery Bank gym promotion, treat it as a promotion, not as part of the standard benefit.

09

Gear and devices

Where one number definitely does not fit all

Vitality HealthProduct-specific

What you can get

It depends on the item

Active Gear is not one universal benefit. Discovery publishes product-specific 2026 offers, while some member accounts may display different qualifying percentages or structures. Your own Discovery app is the final check before purchasing.

Discovery's published 2026 baseline includes up to 25% on qualifying Garmin devices, up to 25% on Nike performance gear against a R4,000 annual qualifying spend, and up to 25% on qualifying sports gear and equipment.

Unlock it

Open the Discovery app, go to Vitality Active Gear, and tap Available qualifying spend. That screen shows your own pot, your own caps and your own percentages. Do that before you buy anything.

What one 2026 member account is currently showing. This is evidence of a live account, not a universal published rate:

ItemDiscount shownApplies to
1 fitness deviceUp to 50% offThe first R4,000 of the retail price
Nike performance footwearUp to 50% offThe first R2,000 of the retail price
Nike performance apparelUp to 50% offThe first R1,000 of the retail price
Shared qualifying spendR6,000Across all of the above, rolling 12 months

Discovery's published 2026 Nike structure is a higher annual spend limit at a lower percentage than the account above shows. Accounts are displaying different things during the transition, which is exactly why your own app is the only number that matters.

Stack it

Funding a device is a different benefit from discounting one. Discounts run off your qualifying spend. Funding runs off your goals.

DeviceFunded throughCatch
Apple WatchVitality Active RewardsWeekly exercise goals over 24 months. Discovery Bank primary cardholders only.
GarminVitality Active RewardsAnnounced for 2026 over 24 months, subject to the qualifying device and weekly goal requirements. Plus an up to 25% upfront discount.
Oura Ring 4Vitality Sleep RewardsWeekly sleep goals over 24 months. Selected styles. Or take an upfront discount instead.

You can fully fund one device, then take a discount on a second.

Garmin is part of Discovery's 2026 device offering. There is an up to 25% upfront discount on qualifying Garmin purchases, subject to the applicable limits, and Garmin funding over 24 months has been announced alongside Apple Watch through the Active Rewards mechanics.

Device eligibility, model availability and funding conditions change. Some accounts show these before others. Check your Discovery app before committing to a purchase.

Don't miss this

The full reward limit comes off your available spend, not the amount you actually spent.

Buy a R900 pair of Nike shoes and you do not use R900 of your pot. You use the entire footwear allocation. The remainder is gone for the next 12 months. Buy at or near the cap, not under it.

Discovery Miles

Where everything you earn actually lands

All VitalityBank app for the retail network

Almost every reward in this guide pays out in Discovery Miles. Ten Miles equals one rand in value. There are two different places to spend them, in two different apps, and mixing them up is why people think their Miles are worth less than they are.

  • 5% off Vitality Mall rewards for every Vitality programme you have activated. Health, Drive and Money. All three gets you the full 15% off rewards worth Đ350 or more.
  • Rewards Wednesday. High-value Mall rewards at up to half price, midnight to midnight, not announced in advance. Discovery's terms say it is available to selected groups of members, so it will not appear for everyone.
Don't miss this
  • Miles are a rewards currency, not cash that lands in your bank account. Eligible Discovery Bank clients may be able to monetise Miles through the banking app, subject to the applicable rate and rules.
  • One reward per transaction, and you cannot use a Mall reward on an item already on promotion.
  • Every reward has its own expiry date. Miles themselves expire five years from issue.

Personal Health Fund

Not a Vitality reward. A separate pot of money.

Discovery Health Medical Scheme only

Discovery Health Medical Scheme members only

Personal Health Pathways and the Personal Health Fund are Discovery Health Medical Scheme benefits, not Vitality rewards. This money does not combine with HealthyFood, Vitality Money or Vitality Drive rewards. If you are on Vitality without Discovery Health medical aid, skip this section.

Personal Health Pathways gives you a personalised list of health actions. Completing them pays money into a Personal Health Fund that covers out-of-hospital costs: GP visits, specialists, medicines, pathology and radiology. It is spent before your Medical Savings Account, so it preserves your MSA.

The four ways to fill the fund

RouteValueWhat you have to do
1. The January advanceUp to R1,000 per adultQualifying members can unlock this for the following year by activating Personal Health Pathways, switching on the required tracking and completing the required Health Check before 31 December, subject to plan and eligibility rules.
2. Pathway actionsPlan-dependentThe value of each Pathways action depends on your Discovery Health Medical Scheme plan and the action allocated to you. Complete the recommended actions until you reach your annual limit, then keep earning a smaller weekly amount for completing your exercise or sleep ring.
3. The child allocationUnlocks automaticallyEvery adult on the policy completes at least two recommended actions. That unlocks the child allocation for beneficiaries under 18.
4. Personal Health ChallengesPlan-dependentNew in 2026. Values vary by plan and by challenge. Qualifying members can earn additional Personal Health Fund value over and above the standard annual fund allocation, subject to their plan rules.
Do this before 31 December

For qualifying members this is the easiest money in the whole Discovery ecosystem, and it has a hard deadline. Activate Pathways, turn on activity and sleep tracking, and get your Health Check done before year end.

Personal Health ChallengesNew 2026

New to Discovery Health in 2026Once per lifetime

New members joining the Scheme in 2026 can receive their full Personal Health Fund allocation, up to R12,000 per policy, immediately in their first year. You must do three things within 90 days of joining: activate Personal Health Pathways, enable physical activity and sleep tracking, and complete your high-value Next Best Action.

New joiners means members on new policies in 2026 that did not have access to the WELLTH Fund or the once-off benefit before. Policies that existed between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2025 do not qualify. The benefit expires 31 December 2027.

What this adds up to in practice

Two Discovery examples showing how the four routes combine over a year on two specific plans. The point is the shape, not the numbers: the total is built from small repeatable actions, and a household with two engaged adults ends up with several times what a single member does. These figures are plan-specific and are not what every member gets.

Each further adult adds 3,750, 12,500, 20,000 and 25,000 respectively, and each of those adults can contribute a maximum of 25,000 points a year.

Worth knowing before you chase status

Vitality Health status used to drive reward levels and flight discounts directly. That has changed. Status now mainly affects things like free Vitality Fitness workouts and selected reward discounts. Doing your two assessments matters far more to your grocery and pharmacy rewards than reaching Diamond does. Chase the assessments first.

The maths people miss

12,000 points a year just from buying groceries you were buying anyway. Add 1,500 for the Vitality Age assessment and 1,000 for a flu jab and you are most of the way to Silver before you have set foot in a gym.

Vitality Money: the six habits

Vitality Money does not measure how much you earn. It measures how well you use what you have. And a large part of it is unlocked by uploading proof of things you already own.

Your card colour matters as much as your status

Discovery publishes a separate rewards percentage guide for each card colour, Gold, Platinum, Black and Purple. The same Vitality Money status pays differently on different cards, and some rewards do not exist at all on some products. As one example, the Gold Card Account earns no local flight rewards from Vitality Money.

Some benefits also use your average monthly qualifying spend over the past 12 months rather than last month alone, and several need at least three months of spend history before they pay anything. Search "Understanding your Dynamic Discounts rewards percentages" plus your card colour for the exact tables.

The biggest free win in the whole programme

The Plan ring is worth 40,000 points at every income level. That is half of what you need for Gold, and it is earned by doing admin, not by being wealthy.

The two targets to aim at

  • Savings. Maximum points at three times your gross monthly salary held in accessible savings or non-retirement investments.
  • Short-term debt. Maximum points when your minimum unsecured repayments are under 5% of gross monthly income. Home loans and vehicle finance do not count here, those sit under property.
Worth saying plainly

Discovery markets both a 75% figure and a 7% figure. The 75% is HealthyFood rewards and flight discounts. The 7% is the maximum reduction on your borrowing interest rate, and it is 5% on Gold. They are unrelated numbers.

Vitality Active (per adult)R159Vitality Health. The entry-level plan.
Vitality Premium (main member)R429The fuller benefit set and higher-end device benefits. R85 per additional member.

Be honest with yourself first

Vitality Active is cheaper than Premium but it is a narrower product, not a discounted version of the same thing. And Vitality Money status is genuinely hard to move if you have short-term debt or no savings. If neither is realistic right now, the honest answer is that R194 a month buys you the gym discount and some Miles, not the full 75%. Work out whether the gym discount alone pays for it.

What changed in 2026

Split by when it happens

Changing 1 September 2026
  • R200 minimum monthly qualifying HealthyFood spend, calculated separately on each in-store and online partner channel.
  • The same R200 minimum applies to HealthyCare at each HealthyCare partner for Discovery Health Medical Scheme members, calculated separately from HealthyFood.
  • HealthyFood moves to "first received, first rewarded" for families. Rewards follow the order Discovery receives qualifying transactions, and each member earns at their own applicable percentage.
  • Vitality Active members with HealthyCare through the medical scheme benefit move to the same earning rules as HealthyFood.

Mistakes to avoid

Ranked by what they cost

  1. Letting the Health Check or Vitality Age expire. Your grocery and pharmacy rewards drop from up to 25% back to 10% the month after either one lapses.
  2. Missing the R200 minimum from September. Spend R180 in a channel and you earn nothing there that month, no matter how healthy the basket was.
  3. Never touching Vitality Money. The Plan ring alone is 40,000 points, half of what you need for Gold, and it is earned through admin rather than income.
  4. Not uploading proof of what you already have. Savings at another bank, a retirement annuity, insurance elsewhere. All of it is points you are already entitled to.
  5. Paying with the wrong card. No qualifying Discovery Bank card means no Vitality Money boost, no matter how good your status is.
  6. Booking flights anywhere except Vitality Travel. Same flight, same day, no discount.
  7. Front-loading gym visits. The 36-visit rule is a rolling 12 months, not a calendar year.
  8. Shopping at the secondary partner. The higher rate only applies at your primary, and you can only switch once every rolling 12 months.
  9. Buying gear under the cap. The full reward limit comes off your qualifying spend, not what you spent.
  10. Leaving the Insure Funder Account switched off. Discovery matches the Vitality Drive fuel cash back component if you route it there.
  11. Spending Discovery Miles on any day except the 15th. Miles Đ-Day can lift the available discount to up to 30%.
  12. Missing the 31 December Personal Health Fund deadline. Medical aid members only, but it is up to R1,000 per adult for three admin tasks.
  13. Chasing a reward by overspending. The most expensive mistake on this list, and the easiest one to make.
If you only do three things

Book both assessments. Open the Vitality Money section and do the Plan ring. Upload proof of everything you already own. That is one afternoon, and it moves the two programmes that pay you the most.
