Besties, you asked how to actually hit Level 5 now that FNB changed the rules in July. So we pulled apart the new criteria, the point values, and the traps most people are still falling into. Virtual card points are gone, in case nobody told you.
This is everything, in order: what's free, what's optional, and a checklist to run every single month so you never leave points on the table.
Lock in your free points first
Do these every single month. Combined, they're worth 7,000 of your 9,500-point target.
| Action | How to do it | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Salary + 10 transactions | Deposit R16,500+ salary and do 10 qualifying transactions (debit card, EFT, debit orders, airtime, electricity, etc.) | 2,000 |
| FNB Fusion Account | Holding an FNB Fusion Account instead of Premier Current earns points. Fusion also carries a monthly fee R15 lower than Premier Current | 2,000 |
| Track My Rewards + Earn More | FNB app → eBucks → open "Track My Rewards," then open "Earn More eBucks." Both, not just one. That's the new rule. | 500 |
| Nav>Money (2 features) | FNB app → Nav>Money → visit any 2 of: My Net Worth, Credit Status, Track My Spend | 500 |
| Nav>Home tab | FNB app → Nav>Home → search a property or browse listings (once a quarter is enough) | 500 |
| Pay bills via FNB Pay Bills | Pay municipal, DStv, cellular or other accounts through FNB Pay Bills (combined R1,000+ to qualify) | 500 |
| Healthy credit status | Keep your credit status Light Green or Dark Green in Nav>Money | 500 |
| Buy 3 products in-app | Buy any 3 of: airtime, data, prepaid electricity, Netflix/Showmax/Spotify voucher, Uber voucher, gaming voucher (combined R300+, bought through the FNB app) | 500 |
| Free points subtotal | 7,000 |
Pick your top-up options
Choose whichever combo fits your life. You don't need all four.
| Action | What's required | Extra cost | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| FNBy Account (kids) | Add your child under My Family, open a free FNBy transactional account, or an FNBy Savings account growing R200/month | Free under 18 | 1,000 |
| Family Account (spouse/partner) | Add your spouse under My Family, open a bank account for them | Both fees cut by 50% | 1,000 |
| Save R1,400/month | Schedule a monthly transfer of R1,400 into an FNB Savings account | Money you're saving anyway | 500–1,000 |
| FNB Funeral Plan | An active plan covering at least 2 lives, paid from your FNB account, earns points. Premiums vary by cover and applicant | A monthly premium applies | 500 |

⚠️ What changed in July 2026
- Virtual card points are gone. Don't build your plan around them anymore.
- New rule: you must open both "Track My Rewards" and "Earn More eBucks." Opening just one no longer counts.
- New rule: Nav>Money now requires 2 features visited, up from 1.
- Best value play: Fusion Account costs R15 less per month than Premier Current and earns 2,000 points. There's no reason not to switch.
- Threshold dropped: Level 5 fell from 10,000 to 9,500 points for Premier, effective July 2026.
Pro tips
- Do the app actions on the 1st of the month so they don't slip your mind later.
- Set your R1,400 savings transfer for payday. It happens automatically, no willpower required.
- Buy airtime and electricity through the FNB app itself, not USSD or another channel, or it won't count toward the 3-product requirement.
- Check your points tracker weekly in the app so nothing sneaks past the deadline.
- Kids under 18 = 1,000 free points. If you have children, this is the easiest bonus available to you.
Stack the free stuff first, add only the paid options you actually need, and Level 5 stops being a mystery and starts being a checklist.
